Retsuko is a 25-year-old red panda who is growing increasingly frustrated with her job in the accounting department of a trading company in Tokyo as she enters her fifth year working at the firm. All she wants to do is get her job done and make it through the day. But her frustrations often reach a boiling point -- whether it's because of pushy superiors or annoying co-workers -- and when they do she gets her emotions out the only way she knows how -- by going to a karaoke bar and venting through death metal music.

Aggretsuko: Season 5 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Patrick St. Michel Japan Times It’s an often brutal, at times uncomfortable, look at those marginalized in society, but it connects with audiences on an emotional level because the characters themselves have space to be fleshed out. Mar 9, 2023 Full Review Aggretsuko: Season 5 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Brittany Vincent Decider A fantastic return to form for a series that’s remained consistently strong over the years since its debut. Mar 9, 2023 Full Review Aggretsuko: Season 5 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Allegra Frank The Daily Beast The phenomenal anime series deserves way more attention, and these scenes from its sensational final season are beautiful, hilarious examples of why. Feb 27, 2023 Full Review Aggretsuko: Season 5 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Petrana Radulovic Polygon It’s not just the end of the season, though, but the end of the series. Watching Retsuko grow as a person has been incredibly fulfilling. Johnathon W Solid season that see Aggretsuko trying to help her boyfriend, Haida, trying to get his life back on track when a new career opportunity falls into her lap. The voice cast remains excellent while the show runners keep the romance and comedy coming. The one twist that doesn't quite work is Retsuko's new career but it still provides some fun. Overall, still a great comedy anime. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review Alyse H I NEED A SEASON 6. Agretsuko did what is very rare for a tv series to do: it completely saw me and narrated the ups and downs of just being a human struggling through life. I think especially as a millennial/GenZ this series would hit some very relatable points. Struggling through jobs you hate, the pressure to make it or find your dream, relationships that are actually full of ups and downs. I especially love Retsuko and Haida. They navigate unrequited love, mundane jobs they hate, career changes, financial hardships, toxic family, and come out stronger because they just have each other's back. I WISH there were more love stories like this one. SPOILER they don't end the show in a perfect place job-wise. They're still both working at it. But they have each other. I know I'm ranting but it's just so rare for me to find a show I can get so excited about and man does this show do that. I'm heartbroken it's over and hope Netflix considers giving it another season. They could still do so much for the characters and it really feels like they're just getting started. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review London H One of the best seasons main plot is questionable, but new character Shikabane is great hope we see more of them and Fenneko. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Roger W The plot of the election is a bit less interesting, and it feels like the screenwriter is forcing us to accept his philosophy.
